What is XCF flotation machine?

XCF flotation machine, also called XCF Type Aerated Stirring Flotation Machine, is an inflatable flotation machine equipment without pulp suction.

The inflatable flotation machine is characterized by the absence of mechanical agitators and transmission parts, and the air for inflation is supplied by a specially installed pressurized fan. Its advantages are simple structure and easy maintenance.

What Is XCF flotation machine Used For?

XCF type inflatable mechanical agitation flotation machine (mining flotation machine) is suitable for large and medium-sized ore dressing plant roughing and selecting operations, can select non-ferrous metals, ferrous metals and non-metallic minerals, the size of the material into the range of 0.2 ~ 0.01mm (-0.074mm particle size content>50%).

For example, A small Danish flotation plant with a limited budget was looking to acquire a cost-effective flotation plant. Chunlei Machinery’s technical staff recommended XCF type inflatable stirring flotation machine according to the customer’s specific situation. The advantages of XCF type flotation machine are small footprint, simple structure, easy maintenance.
Due to the uniform dispersion of air, the degree of combination with the slurry is greatly improved, which makes the material within the slurry stirred evenly, and the sorting efficiency is increased by 30%. After put into production, it fully meets the expected purpose, saves the land area, and has low maintenance cost, which well controls and reduces the cost of expenses, and receives high evaluation from the customers.

Applicable materials: copper ore, magnetic pyrite, hematite, limonite, molybdenum ore, gold ore, iron ore and so on.

Working Principle of XCF Flotation Machine

The working principle of XCF flotation machine is mainly to drive the impeller to rotate through the motor transmission device and hollow spindle. Slurry in the tank from all around through the bottom of the tank through the inner edge of the impeller lower blade sucked into the impeller lower blade, at the same time, from the outside to the low pressure air, through the cross beam, air regulating valve, hollow spindle into the lower impeller cavity in the air distributor, and then through the small holes around the air distributor into the lower blade of the impeller between the slurry and the air under the impeller blade between the impeller for a full mixing, the impeller by the lower outer edge of the impeller blades discharged.

Due to the rotating impeller of the flotation machine and the joint action of the cover plate and the center cylinder, a certain negative pressure is generated in the upper blade of the impeller, so that the ore foam and feed ore flow into the center cylinder through the ore pipe and the feed pipe, and enter the upper blade of the impeller, and finally discharged from the outer edge of the upper blade. The slurry and air mixture discharged from the outer edge of the lower impeller blade and the middle ore and feed ore discharged from the outer edge of the upper impeller blade are stabilized and oriented by the stator installed around the impeller and enter into the main body of the slurry in the tank, and the mineralized bubbles rise to the surface of the slurry to form a foam layer, and a part of the slurry is returned to the lower blade of the impeller for re-circulation, and the other part enters into the next tank through the circulation holes on the wall of the slots to be re-selected or discharged as a certain final product. The other part is discharged as a final product.

The role of the flotation machine impeller isolation disk is to make the pulp and air mixture discharged from the lower blade does not affect the suction pulp of the upper blade of the impeller.

  • Adoption of materials with excellent performance and processing technology to ensure slight and even wear and prolong the service life.
  • Convenient maintenance operation, and greatly reduce the amount of maintenance.
  • Adoption of U-shaped tank structure, which can make the tailing sand deposit less.
  • Adopting U-shaped tank body, less tailing sand deposition.

Difference between KYF and XCF flotation machine

XCF Flotation Machine FAQ

Q: What is the XCF flotation machine mainly used for?
A: The XCF flotation machine is primarily used for roughing, scavenging, and cleaning in non-ferrous metals (copper, lead, zinc, nickel, gold), ferrous metals, and non-metallic mineral processing. It works well as both a standalone unit and in combination with KYF flotation machines in a closed-circuit layout.

Q: What makes the XCF flotation machine different from other flotation cells?
A: The XCF is a self-aspirating flotation machine. It has its own air suction mechanism and slurry suction capability, meaning it does not need an external blower or a froth pump to transfer tailings between cells. This makes it ideal for horizontally arranged, closed-circuit flotation systems.

Q: Can the XCF flotation machine be used together with the KYF flotation machine?
A: Yes, this is one of its most common applications. The XCF is typically used as the first cell in a flotation bank to provide slurry suction, while subsequent KYF cells operate without suction. Together they form a compact, cost-effective flotation circuit without needing intermediate slurry pumps.

Q: What is the typical impeller speed for an XCF flotation machine?
A: Impeller speed depends on the model and tank size, but generally ranges from 150 to 580 rpm. The correct speed is critical for maintaining proper suspension, air dispersion, and froth stability. We provide a detailed speed chart for each model.

Q: What is the air suction rate of the XCF flotation machine?
A: The XCF flotation machine can self-aspirate air at a rate of 0.8 to 1.2 m³/m²·min. The exact rate depends on impeller speed, slurry density, and impeller design. No external blower is required, which saves energy and reduces equipment costs.

Q: What is the typical power consumption of an XCF flotation cell?
A: Power consumption varies by model and operating conditions, but generally ranges from 1.5 to 45 kW per cell. For example, an XCF-8 (8m³) typically uses 15-22 kW. Compared to externally aspirated machines, the XCF saves about 15-20% on energy because no blower is needed.

Q: What materials are the wetted parts made of?
A: Standard wetted parts (impeller, stator, disperser, and tank lining) are made of wear-resistant rubber or polyurethane. For corrosive applications (like copper or gold ores with high acidity), we offer stainless steel or specialized alloy options. Please specify your slurry chemistry when requesting a quote.

Q: How often do the impeller and stator need to be replaced?
A: With normal operating conditions and typical ores, impeller and stator life is approximately 8-12 months. Using wear-resistant rubber can extend this to 12-18 months. We recommend inspecting them every 3 months for signs of wear, especially on the impeller blades and stator disc.

Q: What is the maximum slurry density the XCF flotation machine can handle?
A: The XCF can handle slurry densities up to 45-50% solids by weight, or a specific gravity of approximately 1.8-2.0 t/m³. For higher densities, we recommend consulting our engineers to adjust impeller speed and power.

Q: Do you provide installation and commissioning support for the XCF flotation machine?
A: Yes, we send one to two engineers to your site to supervise installation, perform commissioning, and train your operators. We also provide a full operation manual, drawings, and a recommended spare parts list. Service is available worldwide.
