Chunlei Machinery’s ball mill steel balls are strictly controlled for each batch of water flow casting temperature, with constant temperature automatic casting, fully automatic demolding and ball removal, and automatic sand covering to ensure that each steel ball is of consistent specifications. Automatic molding is used to prevent the steel balls from becoming out of round. Before each batch of water flow casting, spectral analysis is performed to ensure that each core meets the standards before casting. Hardness tests are performed on the steel balls produced during each shift.
The large gear ring is a key component of ball mills and rotary kilns, responsible for driving the entire cylinder for extended periods of operation. As such, Chunlei imposes stringent quality requirements on this component in actual production.

Ball mill steel balls play a key role in fields such as mineral processing, cement manufacturing, and chemical production. As the core grinding medium inside ball mills, they crush materials through collision, friction, and pressure to ensure the desired fineness. The quality and performance of steel balls directly affect grinding efficiency and production costs. Therefore, it is very important to choose high-quality ball mill steel balls.
There are two types of steel balls for ball mills: Forged Steel Balls and Cast Steel Balls. Among them, Forged Steel Balls are more widely used due to their manufacturing process.
Forged Steel Balls have high density, do not break, do not lose their roundness, and have twice the wear resistance of cast balls. After being formed, forged steel balls also need to undergo heat treatment to achieve a surface hardness of 60-62 and a core hardness of 58-59.
The steel balls used in ball mills are made from specialized grinding balls and segments designed for mining applications, manufactured through the melting and processing of bearing scrap iron. This ensures high hardness and wear resistance. This design reduces wear rates, extends equipment lifespan, and saves at least 20% or more in grinding media costs. Its wear resistance remains stable under high-load conditions, ensuring the continuity and efficiency of grinding operations.

They effectively extend equipment lifespan and reduce maintenance costs. High-efficiency, wear-resistant ball mill steel balls are not only suitable for mining and beneficiation but also demonstrate superior performance in cement clinker grinding and chemical product production. Ball mill gears are divided into large gears and small gears. The material selection for large ball mill gears depends on the operating conditions of the large gears. Commonly used materials for large gears include: medium-carbon structural steel, medium-carbon alloy steel, carburized steel, nitrided steel, and ball mills.
The structure of large gears varies due to different usage requirements, but from a manufacturing perspective, gears can be considered as consisting of two parts: the gear ring and the gear body. Based on the distribution of teeth on the gear ring, gears can be classified into straight teeth, helical teeth, and herringbone teeth, among others.
The large gear of the ball mill is an indispensable component of the ball mill equipment. It meshes with the small gear to transmit power to the cylinder through the drive shaft. Typically made of high-strength alloy steel, the large and small gears require precise dimensions and smooth surfaces, with high strength and toughness to ensure the normal operation of the ball mill.

Prior to casting, German computer-aided casting simulation is employed. The production process strictly follows the sequence: wooden mold design – shaping – metallurgical casting – insulation – sand removal – heat treatment – rough and precision machining – packaging and shipment, resulting in high-quality gear ring castings.
